Leadchanges Workshops – Taking the Lead from Within…
“Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power” Lao Tzu
This sentiment is what we really explore with participants of Leadchanges workshops. To get the best from our dogs (in fact from almost anything in our lives) we need to master ourselves, and in order to do that, we need to learn more about ourselves. These workshops use dogs as teachers and it is they who lead us to discover “who we need to be” by showing us “how we really are”. Dogs are our greatest mirrors!
The workshops are for those who want to learn more about dogs, dog psychology, how dogs think and learn, the dog human connection and/or simply find out more about themselves. The workshops are for those who want to be the best they can be for their dogs and for themselves and who are interested in a different approach to learning.
To make changes in ourselves and thus in our dogs and everyday lives, we first need to look within, then we must want to make the change. Of course, wanting to change and actually putting it into practice are two very different things. The workshops give participants some clues about how to start that process.
Workshops are also suitable for those who don’t even own a dog but want to learn more about themselves and are just as good for dog lovers who simply want to have a fun day out! The workshops are also suitable for those who might have some fear around dogs (although not for a serious phobia).
Whatever your reason for wanting to attend a Leadchanges workshop, some of the things we cover during your time with us are:
- Leadership and confidence
- Body language and non-verbal communication
- How to greet dogs
- Why play learning in a fun way is not trivial but essential to our health
- Living in the moment, awareness and observation – becoming more instinctual
- How learning new things and challenging yourself reduces the chance of dementia
- How dogs think and learn and how our similarities to dogs are greater than our differences!
All you need is to have a sense of fun, a sense of humour and an open mind!
The morning combines theory, discussions and Q&A sessions with a lot of hands on exercises with the dogs. It’s important to note that the workshop is effective because it relies on the element of fun and surprise that we put into it, so we always open by asking participants to avoid discussing the specific content of the workshops with others who might wish to attend in the future. Of course, if you enjoy your time with us, we very much hope you will enthusiastically spread the word about the fun you had!
