Tamasine has been working with us over the past three weeks teaching us how to bring stability and balance into the life of our dog, Tina.
We obtained her when she was a year old without any training or guidance. She is very energetic, being of the Beagle breed, likes to run off following the scent of anything she fancies. She did not respect discipline in or out of the house. She would not obey recall commands and generally did what ever she liked. She always pulled hard on the lead making the walk more of a chore than a pleasure. Tina was not dog friendly and had no social skills whatsoever.
After working with Tamasine for just a few hours we noticed a difference in Tina. With the skills taught to us by Tamasine we adopted a more calm and assertive manner toward Tina who responded immediately. The most noticeable immediate change was in the house. Tina now goes to her bed when told and stays until she is released. She no longer jumps on guests on arrival. She remains calm before a walk and no longer pulls hard on the leash. The improvements are endless. There is a big improvement on the recall and we are still working at it in various ways.
We realise that this is an ongoing process and will take a long time to get to where we would like to be with Tina in all aspects, but without the expert advice and hands on teaching by Tamasine we would never have been able to achieve the level of success that we have without demoralising Tina. We feel there is a stronger bond between us and Tina due to the mutual respect that we have gained through Tamasine’s guidance.
We cannot thank Tamasine enough for the time and effort put in to teach us with kindness and real concern for the stability of Tina.
