We would like to write something about our wonderful experience with Tamasine Smith of Leadchanges.
We met Tamasine when we brought a dog to her from our mountain with our neighbor and we were impressed by the passionate, professional way she taught this dog how to become a normal family dog.
We have 3 small female dogs ourselves that we thought to be a little to submissive an scared for several reasons. One is an Italian greyhound, called Fee,
who with us from Holland and was scared of other people, new environments and did not like to walk. For us she was and is an affectionate sweetheart and being in Spain, in a more quiet place, it already helped to make her a little better. Even so, we wanted her to happier and not bothered all the time.
Our second dog we got through Axarquia Animal Rescue (AAR). Her name is Roxy
and she is a black minipincher/podenco cross. She was found on the street after being hit by a car and has a damaged hipbone. She is also a sweetheart but too submissive, and was always lying on her back like a little baby if something small happened. Besides that she was unfocused and lacked concentration – always looking at something else, running behind butterflies, leaves… and then she did not listen too well and did not walk very well on the lead.
The third one is our little fluffy Luna,
we also got her through AAR. We adopted her after she was attacked by other dogs that formed a pack against her. Luna was also too submissive and barked hysterically at other dogs, especially male dogs and then ran away and hide. We just wanted them to be happy, confident dogs, but did not know where to start. Because of the results Tamasine achieved with the dog from our mountain we asked her for help. And we are so happy that we did!
Our dogs went to her separately from each other, each for 2 weeks. She kept us informed about their growth and learning process by email, facebook, photos and videos. Every time we were surprised by what they had learned. After each dog had had week to make some changes we came for a visit to get some training and got lots of tips about what to do with our dog when she would return and what to do with the others to let them learn from each other. Of course it became clear what our role had been in them being the way they were and we had to change too. After 6 weeks they were all home again and all three had changed and so had we.
Our house is a more “quiet, confident place”. We know what to do when things don’t go the way they should and if we don’t know Tamasine is always there to show us what is happening and what we can do to solve the “problem”.
We are very happy that we have met her and recommend her very much to everybody that wants a healthy relationship with his dog and wants a happy dog.
